Life these days means we connect over social media, the annual holiday card, occasional group email, texts, and phone when there is a tragedy. We answer calls with a panicked “is everything ok?”
When we do spend time together, I begin with my laundry list of complaints. Carpools, screen-time, work juggle, laundry, etc. In reality, I know I am lucky to have a full plate to complain about. I swirl together anxieties about parenting, marriage, career, diet and health. As we pour over our daily struggles, you help me sip slowly and offer your perspective. Your share your own stresses and we mix laughs with our tears. We remember when life was easier and we reminisce.
We have a history and you don’t let me forget it. You remind me of my hopes and dreams, and who I am at my core, before I took on the roles of wife and mother. Through your encouragements, you lift me up. You encourage me to keep challenging myself. You push me to work harder and I don’t want to let you down.
Thank you for sharing your time, love and laughter with me. Before we spend time together my cup often gets empty. Our connections refill me, recharge me and allow my cup to runneth way over.
Our friendship makes life on my funny farm so much sweeter. Blessed to have you’all in my flock.
xoxo
